MISSION
The mission of University Psychiatric
Associates is to provide quality cost effective psychiatric and
substance abuse services to clients and their families through
the use of individual, couples, family and group treatment
modalities. Our belief is the client comes first. We
also provide a safe and rewarding work environment for all of
our employees.
PHYSICIAN/NURSE PRACTITIONERS
At University Psychiatric Associates, we
believe mental health and substance abuse conditions are an
interaction between mind, body, spirit and environment.
The psychiatrist and psychiatric nurse practitioners in our
practice emphasize the biologic portion of the illness and have
specialized training in prescribing medications that treat a
broad spectrum of mental health and substance abuse conditions.
Our goal is to find the proper medication
or combination of medications that will restore our patients to
full functioning with minimal side effects.
Open communication between provider and
client is our goal.
Please
note that there is a clinician on-call twenty-four (24) hours a
day, seven (7) days a week.
THERAPY
We have
a diverse group of therapist, including licensed clinical social
workers, advanced practice psychiatric nurses and advanced
practice substance abuse nurses. Each clinician brings years of
training and experience to their own unique area of practice.
Treatment modalities include individual, group, couples and
family therapy. We provide services for children,
adolescents and adults.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT
Addiction is a treatable illness, characterized by continued use
of alcohol or other drugs despite the consequences. If you
have trouble controlling the amount you drink or use, if you are
unable to stop when you want to stop, if things are happening to
you while you are drinking or using that you did not plan to
have happen...we can help!
Our team
provides the necessary and essential recovery components in a
private and confidential environment.
OUR
TREATMENT OPTIONS
Intensive Outpatient Program:
This program is
abstinence based, has a strong relapse prevention component,
follows the Twelve-Step principles of Alcoholics Anonymous and
involves the family.
Ambulatory Detoxification: This
program provides an alternative level of care to hospitalization
for those who have developed a physical dependence to a
substance. Our program requires daily attendance for the
first week of treatment so the medication is adjusted daily to
ensure a safe and comfortable detoxification. Since
detoxification is the first step in the recovery process, we
start therapy immediately.
SUBOXONE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM
This
program combines medication intervention while assisting clients
to make the lifestyle changes needed to develop a successful
recovery program. Our program requires frequent visits
during the induction stage of the medication. Attendance
in a psychosocial support group is an expected component of our
program.

OUR
TREATMENT IS...
Convenient: Our programs provide several levels of
care for substance abuse disorders. Our schedule allows
participants to remain employed and living at home while
involved in treatment.
Solution Oriented: Our practical, hands-on education
sessions and group therapy teach people to cope with day to day
situations without the use of chemicals.
Individualized: Our program model provides
individualized treatment plans so the needs of each participant
are met. Psychiatric illness is common in addiction, so we
screen all participants and provide treatment when indicated.
We believe that both illnesses need to be treated at the same
time for effective recovery from both.
